Governmental Affairs Manager American Electric Power

 

Mike Brello is the governmental affairs manager for American Electric Power (AEP). He is responsible for state and local governmental affairs and public policy matters as well as building and maintaining external relationships with elected officials, consumer groups, and other interested stakeholders. Brello most recently served as legislative liaison at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for five years, where he represented the agency to the Taft and Strickland administrations, the Ohio General Assembly, and organizations such as the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and the National Conference of State Legislatures. He received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Toledo and his MBA from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. He has completed executive management programs at Fisher College of Business, the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy, and the Regulatory Studies Program at Michigan State University’s Institute of Public Utilities. He is a member of the boards of the Ohio Literacy Network, The Ohio Public Expenditure Council, and the Ohio Electric Utility Institute.
