Innovation has always been a priority for executive teams. Now, innovation is seen as a necessity.

According to Plante Moran's 2013 Innovation Survey Report, 94% of business leaders are focusing on innovation, a 15% jump in just one year. And the reasons for innovating are changing. Businesses are focusing less on regulatory and economic concerns as drivers and more on improving capacity, flexibility, and quality.

However, this increased focus on innovation comes with several challenges. Companies are starting to recognize that in order to have a truly innovative culture, they'll need to foster collaboration and be more rapid in their strategic planning.
